Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Global Islamic Economics Review (GIER) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice.
This statement is based on the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines and describes the ethical behavior expected of all parties involved in the publication process: the author(s), the journal editor(s), the peer reviewer(s), and the publisher.

1. Duties of the Editors

Fair Play and Editorial Independence
Editors evaluate submitted manuscripts solely on the basis of their academic merit (importance, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope) without regard to the author’s race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic origin, religion, nationality, or political philosophy.

Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, and the publisher.

Conflict of Interest
Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors.

Publication Decisions
The editor-in-chief is responsible for deciding which articles will be published. This decision is guided by the journal’s editorial policies and constrained by legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.

2. Duties of the Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review assists editors in making editorial decisions and may also help authors improve their manuscripts through constructive feedback.

Promptness
Reviewers who feel unqualified to review a manuscript or unable to review it within the specified time should notify the editor and withdraw from the review process.

Confidentiality
All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

Standards of Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively and clearly, avoiding personal criticism of the author. Reviewers should express their views with supporting arguments.

Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the authors and should alert the editor to any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and other published papers.

Conflict of Interest
Reviewers should not review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest due to competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions.

3. Duties of the Authors

Reporting Standards
Authors must present an accurate account of their research as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.

Data Access and Retention
Authors may be asked to provide the raw data of their study for editorial review and should be prepared to provide public access to such data if possible.

Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their works are entirely original, and if they have used the work and/or words of others, these must be properly cited or quoted.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
Authors should not publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication.

Acknowledgment of Sources
Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given.

Authorship of the Paper
Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
All authors should disclose any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that might influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works
When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their own published work, it is their obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate to retract or correct the paper.

4. Duties of the Publisher

The Department of Islamic Economics, Institut Agama Islam Pangeran Dharma Kusuma Indramayu, as the publisher of GIER, takes its guardianship duties over all stages of publication seriously and recognizes its ethical responsibilities. The publisher ensures that advertising, reprint, or other commercial revenue has no impact or influence on editorial decisions.

The publisher and editors will assist in communications with other journals and/or publishers where this is useful and necessary to fulfill their duties.

5. Ethical Oversight

If the journal receives a complaint of misconduct (such as plagiarism, data fabrication, unethical research practices, or duplicate publication), the editorial team will follow COPE flowcharts to handle the issue transparently and fairly.
Actions may include contacting the author’s institution, retracting or correcting the publication, or issuing an expression of concern.
