Abstrak

This study examines the implementation of the Discovery Learning model in fostering learning autonomy among Grade X students of MA Al Mahrusiyah in the topic of Qur’anic structure. The main issue addressed is the low level of student independence in understanding the division of surahs and juz, distinguishing between Makkiyah and Madaniyah surahs, and using mu‘jam as a classical reference source. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through classroom observations, interviews, and document analysis of students’ work over four learning sessions. The findings indicate that Discovery Learning encourages students to seek information independently, engage in group discussions, and construct understanding through discovery processes. Students became more proficient in using mu‘jam, capable of creating structural charts of the mushaf, and demonstrated higher learning motivation without relying entirely on the teacher. The study concludes that Discovery Learning is relevant to Qur’anic learning in madrasah settings to cultivate autonomous learning attitudes, critical thinking, and awareness as lifelong learners.
